It was another day of honour as the Iconic Lions felicitated with one of their members, Professor Adekunle Okesina, on his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University.At the get together held at Brymor Hotel, Ilobu road, Osogbo on Saturday, 15 June, 2013 under the chairmanship of the Secretary to the State Government of the State of Osun, Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, people extolled the virtues of the new Vice-Chancellor. A close associate, Chief ‘Tunde Omikunle, described Okesina as somebody who loves God and who doesn’t play with prayer.
In his goodwill message, the Registrar of the institution, Dr. Julius Faniran thanked the Iconic Lions Club for the honour and prayed God to assist the new Vice-Chancellor in the enormous task ahead. He urged the university’s community to cooperate with the Vice-Chancellor in the herculean task ahead of him. The Chancellor of the University, Alaiyeluwa Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II, Ooni of Ife was represented at the occasion by two Royal Kings from Ife kingdom.
At the ceremony were the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Adeoti; representatives of the Ooni of Ife; members of Lions Club from far and near; Chief Tunde Omikunle of Vision Link, Lagos; academics from Osun State University; the University of Ilorin; Ladoke Akintola University of Technlogy, Ogbomoso; LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo and Samuel Adegboyega University, Ogwa in Edo State.
