Functions/Responsibilities of the Unit
The Expenditure Control Unit of the University as an essential part of the Bursary Department is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring efficient resource allocation and transparency in expenditure to all Departments and Colleges in the University. Our core functions include:
- Reviewing and preparing payment vouchers for approved expenditure request to verify that all expenses align with the University’s financial policies, regulations and priorities, to ensure only authorized and valid expenses are processed.
- Ensuring that only amount allocated to each heads of account is utilized to comply with approved budgetary allocations.
- Working closely with the internal and external auditors to provide necessary documents and explanation when necessary to ensure transparent audit.
- Ensuring all financial transactions comply with statutory, regulatory requirements and University financial regulations.
- Providing necessary financial details of the University to the Accountant General’s office for inclusion in the financial statement of the state.
- Studying analysis of expenditure to provide needed information to ensure sustainable financial practice.
