Academic Departments
Core Objective
Training studentship to address humanity's multifaceted challenges using modern Humanities research methodologies.
Welcome to the Faculty of Humanities, one of the founding faculties of Osun State University. It has a tradition of scholarship that is respected internationally. We promote and advance knowledge - through teaching, research and community service - about the various aspects of the African and the neo-African human experience, locally and globally.
We address issues from the perspective that the opportunity for human advancement can be found in the positive value systems shared among African peoples and in the climes and spaces that they inhabit. Our researchers study languages, literatures, History and International Studies, creative lives and lifestyles of peoples and the phenomenologies that set the Christian and Islamic religious faiths as part of the core attributes of local and global humanity.
The pedagogies of our classroom sessions place the African and neo-African humanity at the centre of intellectual and global development discourses and they combine to engage the young minds that continue to absorb the exciting and inspiring learning sessions that the academic staff have promoted over the years.
