Current Research Areas

My research focuses on the application of geospatial technologies, spatial analysis, and urban planning principles to address contemporary challenges in sustainable urban and regional development. My areas of interest include:

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing for urban and environmental planning.

Spatial Accessibility and Equity, with particular emphasis on access to educational, healthcare, and other public facilities.

Urban and Regional Planning, including sustainable city development, land use planning, and infrastructure planning.

Governance and Spatial Justice, examining how governance structures influence the equitable distribution of public services and urban resources.

Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Geospatial Modelling, integrating digital design and simulation tools to support planning and decision-making.

Environmental Planning and Management, including land use change analysis, environmental impact assessment, and natural resource management.

Sustainable Infrastructure and Transportation Planning, focusing on accessibility, mobility, and resilient urban systems.

Housing and Community Development, with interests in housing adequacy, affordability, neighbourhood quality, and liveability.

Spatial Data Science and Urban Analytics, employing statistical and geospatial techniques to analyse urban patterns and support evidence-based policy.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and related goals on inclusive and resilient development.

Research Statement

My research seeks to leverage Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, computer-aided design, spatial modelling, and urban analytics to develop innovative, data-driven solutions for sustainable urban and regional development. I am particularly interested in improving accessibility to public services, promoting spatial equity, strengthening urban governance, and supporting evidence-based planning for resilient and inclusive communities. My work integrates advanced geospatial technologies with planning theory to address real-world challenges in developing countries, while contributing to global sustainable development initiatives.

Research Interests

My research interests lie at the intersection of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), geospatial technologies, urban and regional planning, and sustainable development. I am particularly interested in applying spatial data science, remote sensing, and computer-aided design (CAD) to understand and address complex urban, environmental, and infrastructure challenges through evidence-based planning.
A major focus of my research is spatial accessibility and equity, particularly the distribution and accessibility of educational, healthcare, transportation, and other public facilities. I investigate how spatial patterns and governance structures influence equitable service delivery and contribute to improving quality of life in both urban and rural communities.
I am also interested in urban governance, spatial justice, and sustainable urban development, with emphasis on land use planning, infrastructure provision, environmental management, and the development of resilient and inclusive cities. My work examines the relationships between planning policies, governance systems, and socio-spatial inequalities to support informed decision-making.
My research further explores the integration of GIS, remote sensing, spatial modelling, urban analytics, and computer-aided design for monitoring environmental change, analysing urban growth, assessing infrastructure performance, and developing sustainable planning solutions. I employ quantitative, qualitative, and geospatial analytical techniques to generate policy-relevant insights that contribute to national development priorities and the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
Overall, my research aims to advance the use of innovative geospatial technologies and planning methodologies in promoting sustainable, resilient, and equitable human settlements, especially within rapidly urbanising regions of the Global South.
