My most current work would be my thesis.
My thesis focuses on the critical intersections of human rights, labour law, and migration, specifically examining the legal protections for Women Migrant Domestic Workers (WMDWs) in South Africa. A central pillar of my work is the analysis of international standards, such as “ILO Convention 189”, and their domestic application. I have explored landmark legal developments, including the “Mahlangu case”, to evaluate how constitutional rights and labour statutes address the systemic vulnerabilities of domestic workers.
Furthermore, my academic background in Law and Information Management allows me to approach these issues through a structured lens, identifying persistent gaps in enforcement and legislative coverage that leave migrant women susceptible to exploitation, physical abuse, and “modern slavery.” By synthesizing regional protocols, such as the “Kampala Convention” and “ECOWAS” frameworks, with national laws, my research advocates for robust institutional reforms. Ultimately, it contributions aim to transition domestic work from the “hidden” private sphere into a regulated professional sector, ensuring that migrant women are afforded the dignity, safety, and legal recourse guaranteed under both regional and international human rights law.
