Brief Educational Profile
He earned B. Agric(Plant Science) in 1990 from OAU, Ile-Ife. He served in the NYSC programme in 1990/91 in the old Kano State. Immediately after the National Service in 1991, he enrolled for and earned MSc (Agronomy) from the University of Ibadan in 1992. He worked briefly as a Class Teacher at Ikorodu High School, Ikorodu-Lagos(1992-1993) and Lecturer II at the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu (1993-1995). He returned to the Ọbafẹmi Awolowọ University as a Graduate Assistant in February 1995. He earned PhD degree in 2001from the University of Ibadan. He also holds Certificate in Tissue Culture from United Nations University (2000) and Certificate in Cytogenetics from IITA, Ibadan (2001) and another Certificate in Food Science from Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore, India (2006). He is a holder of Certificate in German Language (2006) from Goethe Institute, Bonn, Germany.

Adebooye is a winner of twenty-six (26) international research grants and about one hundred (100) travel grants, totaling about US$12.0 million. These grants are from the Government of Germany, Canada, India, United Nations, Pakistan, TWAS, CTA, CGIAR etc. He has attended over 100 conferences in about sixty-one (61) countries all around the world. At international level, he was appointed by the German Government’s Humboldt Foundation as the Ambassador Scientist in Nigeria, a position in which he served meritoriously from 2014-2020. Again, he was appointed as the Regional Project Coordinator for the Government of Canada IDRC vegetables projects in West Africa (2011-2020), a position in which he demonstrated exceptional leadership and accountability. He was appointed as the first Nigerian to serve as Secretary-General and member of the Governing Board of the African-German Network of Excellence in Science (AGNES) (2016-2021), a funding agency of the Government of Germany Humboldt Foundation which awards grants and fellowships to scholars in sub-Sahara Africa. He was Visiting Professor at the Germany Research Center, Jülich, Germany (2021); University of Manitoba, Canada (2016-2021); University of Bonn, Germany (various times 2006-2018); University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany (2011) and Cape Breton University, Sydney, Canada (2014). He was a United Nations Senior Research Fellow at CFTRI, Mysore, India (2005-2006).
