Brief Educational Profile
Dr. Ibrahim Musibau Adekunle is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, Osun State University, Osogbo, Nigeria.
He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science (2017) from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand, where his research focused on Image Processing, Computer Vision and Machine Learning under the sponsorship of TETFund. He obtained his M.Sc. in Computer and Network Engineering (2009) from Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom, and his B.Sc. in Computer Science with Second Class Upper Division (2001) from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
Dr. Ibrahim is a seasoned academic and industry practitioner. Prior to joining Osun State University in 2011 as Lecturer II, he had several years of cognate experience in the Telecommunications industry. He has served the University in various capacities including Departmental Seminar Coordinator (since 2016), Head of Laboratory Matters (2016-2018), Head of Department of Cybersecurity (2023-2025), Senate Member (2023-2025), and Member of the Faculty Board of Examiners.
His research interests are in Image Processing, Pattern Recognition, Biomedical and Medical Imaging, Machine Learning, Computer Vision and Computer Networks. He has over 30 scholarly publications in reputable local and international journals and has successfully supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate (MSc) students. He has over 500 citations on Google Scholar to his credit.
Dr. Ibrahim is a recipient of the prestigious TETFund Ph.D. Scholarship Award (2012-2016). He was a Visiting Scholar to the University of Auckland in 2014 and 2015, and as part of his Sabbatical Leave, he recently won an international visiting scholar appointment at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. He is highly internationally recognized and has visited more than fifteen (15) countries across the world. He is a member of several professional bodies including the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), International Association of Engineers and Computer Scientists (IAENG), and Institute of IT Professionals, New Zealand (IITP).
He is an IT Consultant to several educational institutions.
