Current/Recent Research

My research career focuses on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in clinically important bacterial pathogens, particularly Burkholderia pseudomallei, Burkholderia cepacia complex, and multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii. My research involves the isolation and characterization of environmental and clinical bacterial isolates, the investigation of antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, virulence factors, and biofilm formation, and the discovery and evaluation of microbial secondary metabolites as alternative antimicrobial agents. I also employ bioinformatics and computational approaches to identify potential therapeutic targets and assess the antimicrobial potential of natural compounds.
Currently, our laboratory is evaluating the wound-healing efficacy of a microbial pigment-formulated cream in Wistar rats and assessing its antimicrobial activity against multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii, with the aim of developing innovative therapeutic strategies to combat infections caused by antimicrobial-resistant pathogens.
