Osun State University (UNIOSUN) will graduate 4,357 students at its 16th convocation ceremonies, with 88 first-degree graduands earning First-Class honours.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Odunayo Adebooye, disclosed this at a pre-convocation news conference held on Saturday in Osogbo.
Class of Degree Breakdown
Professor Adebooye said the 88 First-Class graduands were part of a graduating class distributed as follows:

The Vice-Chancellor stated that the total figure of 4,357 graduands comprises:
- 3,845 first-degree holders
- 400 master’s degree holders
- 103 doctoral degree holders
- 9 postgraduate diploma holders
“Meet the Vice-Chancellor” Dinner for First-Class Graduands
Professor Adebooye announced that the university will host its First-Class graduates to a special dinner tagged “Meet the Vice-Chancellor” on September 22.
He said the initiative was designed to celebrate the outstanding academic performance of the graduates while providing them with an opportunity to interact with industrialists and potential employers.
According to him, the invited employers will also expose the graduates to employment opportunities and the realities of the current labour market.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the university’s focus extends beyond academic qualifications to equipping graduates with the skills and opportunities needed to contribute meaningfully to society.
Pioneer Medical Doctors to Graduate
Professor Adebooye also disclosed that the university will graduate its pioneer set of 90 medical doctors during the convocation.
He said the graduates of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme were inducted by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) on August 12 and would receive their degrees on September 23.
Strengthening Programmes, Research and Partnerships
The Vice-Chancellor said UNIOSUN is strengthening its academic programmes, research, and partnerships, while expanding infrastructure and leveraging technology to respond to the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).
Appreciation to the Media
Professor Adebooye expressed appreciation to the media for its partnership with the university. He urged journalists to continue to hold the institution accountable through constructive engagement.
