In a further demonstration of its growing reputation as a centre of academic excellence and globally competitive research, a lecturer in the Department of Public Health at Osun State University, Dr. Iyanuoluwa Mobolaji Adufe, has been appointed a Visiting Scholar at the prestigious Fred N. Binka School of Public Health, University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ghana.
A statement issued by the University’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, disclosed that the highly competitive appointment is under the Malaria Modeling Programme, through which Dr. Adufe will undergo advanced training in malaria modelling using the cutting-edge Epidemiological MODeling (EMOD) software.
The fellowship, which will run from July to November 2026, will also provide her with opportunities to participate in collaborative research, academic seminars and other scholarly engagements alongside leading public health experts.
The statement described the appointment as a significant recognition of Dr. Adufe’s outstanding contributions to public health research and her commitment to advancing scientific knowledge in disease modelling and malaria control. It added that the appointment further reinforces Osun State University’s growing profile as a leading institution producing scholars whose research continues to address critical global health challenges.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, described the appointment as another landmark achievement for the University and a testament to the quality of its academic staff and the increasing global relevance of its research.
According to him, the recognition reflects the University’s sustained investment in research, innovation and international collaborations, which have continued to position UNIOSUN among Nigeria’s fastest-growing universities.
Professor Adebooye noted that the University’s strategic emphasis on research excellence and capacity building has created opportunities for its academics to participate in impactful international collaborations aimed at developing practical solutions to contemporary societal and global challenges.
