The Governing Council of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), on Wednesday, 3rd of November appointed Professor Afeez Adefemi Bello as Acting Vice-Chancellor with effect from Friday, 5th of November, due to the expiration of the tenure of the 3rd substantive Vice-Chancellor, Professor Labode Popoola on Thursday, 4th of November, 2021.
The Osun State University Student Union (OSUSU) on Thursday, 4th of November, 2021 installed the 3rd substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Labode Popoola as the pioneer patron of the student body of the University due to his landmark achievements in the University and his support to the students during his tenure.
An Alumnus of Osun State University and the Chief Executive Officer of Yemi Grand Royal Farms, Mr. Opeyemi Adeosun, has recently commended the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Labode Popoola and the management of the University for initiating a Start-up Fund for Alumni of the University that has a bankable proposal.
Olukoya Ogen, FHSN and Professor of History at Osun State University, was on Wednesday, 14th of October inducted as a Fellow of the Historical Society of Nigeria (HSN). Registered in 1955, HSN is the first professional association in Nigeria. The fellowship award is the highest and most prestigious honour that the Society can confer on its members.

Notice is hereby given that the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) screening exercise will hold for candidates who chose Osun State University as their first choice or those willing to change their institution and make UNIOSUN their first choice, who have a minimum score of 160 marks. However, candidates that scored less than 200 marks would not be considered for admission into any of the underlisted programmes: Nursing, Medicine, Law , Common and Islamic Law.
In keeping to its promise of grooming and producing a high quality, well–rounded, globally competitive and entrepreneurial graduates who are catalysts for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development, the management of Osun State University through its Digital Innovation and Business Start-Up Hub (DIBUSH) has recently partnered OGI/DSN to train the University students on Artificial Intelligence with the theme: AI Invasion between Monday, 2nd and Friday, 6th of August 2021 at the DIBUSH center of the University.

The Coordinator of UNIOSUN DIBUSH, Dr. Oluwafemi Abanikannda while describing the nature of the event, stated that the university would be partnering with Opolo Global Innovation Limited and Data Science Nigeria for the empowerment of UNIOSUN students. He noted that the training is part of the commitment of the institution to develop world class talents, techpreneurs and entrepreneurs within the university via strategic partnership and collaboration.
“The objectives of the training among others will include: understanding the core concepts of machine learning, both theory and code, having hands-on practice of machine learning coding during class sessions that can be coded by trainees on their own, performing simple exploratory data analysis and interpreting the results, doing simple visualizations, developing a simple machine learning model, exporting predictions to a CSV and participating in a competitive Kaggle hackathon at the end of the training.”
“The training will be officially declared open by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Labode Popoola by 10a.m. on Monday 2nd August at the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium of Osun State University and guests are expected to be seated by 9:30a.m” Dr. Abanikanda added.
The executive of the student union of Osun State University led by the president, Olanrewaju Muideen on Tuesday, 6th of July holds a campaign against drug abuse, sexual harassment, exam malpractices and cultism.
As part of the efforts to enrich the quality of teaching and learning of students of Osun State University, The Management of Osun State University, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Labode Popoola, recently renewed its partnership with the University of the Gambia.
