The decision was ratified during the Council’s statutory meeting held on Friday, May 30, 2025, following recommendations from the University’s Appointment and Promotions Committee.
According to a statement issued by the University’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ademola Adesoji, the promotions reflect UNIOSUN’s consistent commitment to rewarding academic and professional excellence and motivating its workforce.
The newly promoted full professors include:
1. Prof. Yakubu Samuel – Geography
2. Prof. Ajewole Titus – Electrical and Electronics Engineering
3. Prof. Oluwatoyin Catherine Adekunle – Medical Microbiology
4. Prof. Olagunju Adebayo – Accounting
5. Prof. Basiru Kehinde – Statistics
6. Prof. Oloyede Samuel Bolaji - Medical Microbiology
7. Prof. Azeez Lukman – Applied Chemistry
8. Prof. Mahboob Adekilekun Jimoh – Plant Biology
9. Prof. Abiodun Omoniyi – Obstetrics & Gynaecology
10. Prof. Ezekiel Oluwagbenga Adeyemi – Demography & Social Statistics
Those promoted to the rank of Associate Professor are:

9. Dr. Busari Ahmed – Agricultural Economics
10. Dr. Oginni Babalola – Human Resource Development

12. Dr. Adedeji Wasiu – Mechanical Engineering
13. Dr. Adeyemi Muibat – Microbiology

In the Bursary Unit, the Council approved the promotion of Mrs. Fatima Titilope Ishola-Oladele to the position of Deputy Bursar, and Mr. Dauda Akanni Bello to Chief Accountant.
In the Registry Unit, the following officers were elevated to Principal Assistant Registrar:
• Mrs. Bolaji Ajike Oluwasanmi
• Mr. Akanni Rasheed Adejuwon
• Mr. Wasiu Kolapo Arikewuyo
Also promoted was Mrs. Elizabeth Bolanle Fabunmi, from Assistant Chief Executive Officer to Chief Executive Officer.
The Governing Council commended the affected staff for their dedication and hard work and urged them to see their promotions as a call to higher responsibility and more impactful service to the University.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, congratulated all the newly promoted staff and praised the Council for its continued support in building a globally competitive institution.
“With these promotions, we are not only rewarding merit and dedication but also positioning our University to continue leading in academic excellence and administrative efficiency,” the Vice-Chancellor remarked.
Osun State University remains one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing universities in terms of research output, academic impact, and staff development, and this latest round of promotions is a testament to that progress.
