The Statistics Programme was approved at the inception of the Osun State University, Osogbo in 2007 as one of the programmes to be mounted by the University under the College of Science, Engineering and Technology, and since then serve as a service unit within the University.
In 2019/2020 academic session, the programme was approved by the National University Commission (NUC) under the umbrella of the Department of Mathematical Sciences and began to offer a programme leading to the award of the BSc. (Statistics) degrees.
During the 2021/2022 academic session, the University Management approved the establishment of the Department of Statistics and immediately took off with two (2) Associate Professors of Statistics, Dr. (Mrs) Taiwo A. There are two functional laboratories in the department that serve the academic programmes of the Department, the laboratories are well equipped to cope with the teaching of students and for the use of academic staff for research purposes. Classrooms and lecture rooms are shared with other Departments in the College.
