UNIOSUN STUDENT BECOMES GOOGLE AMBASSADOR

akande olaide_gsaA 300-level student of Osun State University in the Department of Information and Computer Technology, Miss Mujidat Olaide Akande with Matriculation Number CSC/2011/0046, has become one of the newly selected Google Ambassadors (GAs) from various African universities.

Miss Akande, a Computer Science student, qualified after a highly competitive process for the selection of Google Student Ambassadors. The Google Student Ambassador Programme is an avenue for students to act as ICT Ambassadors in their universities. They also have the opportunity to enhance their professional development, leadership and communication skills, and access to a unique network of Google Ambassadors across the world.

According to a statement from Google representative in Kenya, Nanjala Misiko, each of the Ambassadors will serve for a year. Meanwhile, Akande was among the Ambassadors that attended a 3-day Orientation Summit financed by Google. The summit held in Nairobi, Kenya, between 3rd and 5th July, 2013 introduced them to various Google products and how to organise Google events on campuses where they will teach other students and help their respective universities to go Google.
