Ajagbusi-EkunThe Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, on behalf of Senate, Staff and Students, commiserates with the University's Chancellor and Chairman of Osun State Council of Obas, Oba Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II, the Ooni of Ife on the transition to eternity of the late Alayeluwa Oba Oladele Olashore, Aloko of Iloko, the Ajagbusi-Ekun, the Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesaland.

During his lifetime, Oba Olashore was a great friend of Osun State University. The late Kabiyesi, an astute businessman, shared the vision of the University and was a keen promoter of its development. Oba Olashore was also a great lover of education as easily attested to by his proprietorship of the now renowned Olashore International School. But lesser known but probably of greater impact was his establishment of Iloko Model College, a truly model school that has established its credentials with the outstanding performance of its students in national examinations. Iloko Model College is meant for the less financially endowed members of the community but is of the highest quality.

The Late Alayeluwa Oba Oladele Olashore

Oba Olashore also made his mark in the field of higher education, the hallmark of which was his appointment as the pioneer Chancellor of Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), in Ikeji-Arakeji, where he single handedly constructed a multi-million Naira multipurpose hall that stands regally on the premises of that fledgling institution.

Osun State University therefore commiserates with its Chancellor, Oba Okunade Sinuwade Olubuse II and members of the Osun State Council of Obas, Oba Olashore’s family and the people of Iloko-Ijesa in particular and Osun State in general. The University also commiserates with the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of JABU, Professor A.M.A. Imevbore, its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sola Fajana, and members of JABU community.

Oba Olashore had left a vacuum that would be difficult to fill. May his soul rest in peace.

Signed
Professor Sola Akinrinade, FHSN
Vice-Chancellor, Osun State University
