In a landmark event that further affirms Osun State University's commitment to student-centred development and strategic partnerships, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, on Wednesday, 25th June 2025, paid a ceremonial visit to the newly opened Lotus Bank Branch located on the university’s main campus in Osogbo.

Accompanied by other principal officers of the institution, Professor Adebooye lauded the bank’s foresight and commitment to financial inclusion, especially among the youth demographic. He described the establishment of a bank branch within the university environment as “a step in the right direction”, given the institution’s vibrant population of over 13,000 students and hundreds of academic and non-teaching staff.

“This initiative,” he noted, “is not only a first in the history of Osun State University but a bold signal of the university’s growing appeal as a hub of innovation and progress. With the student population we boast of, the bank can rest assured of a solid and rapidly growing user base.”

Highlighting the institution’s openness to developmental partnerships, the Vice-Chancellor encouraged Lotus Bank to explore meaningful collaborations with university cooperatives and staff unions in a bid to expand its reach and deliver impactful services.

Earlier, the Branch Manager, Mrs Oluwadunsin Adekanmi, expressed her gratitude to the university leadership for the warm welcome and pledged the bank’s readiness to deliver top-tier, interest-free banking services tailored to meet the needs of students and staff alike.

She proudly announced that Lotus Bank, UNIOSUN Branch, is the first bank to be hosted on the premises of the University across all six campuses, and revealed that the branch is currently finalizing arrangements to launch free Wi-Fi services for its users, a move aimed at enhancing the digital banking experience and attracting tech-savvy users within the university.

In his closing remarks, Professor Adebooye offered prayers for the successful operations of the bank on campus and pledged personal support. “All principal officers, including myself, will be opening accounts with Lotus Bank very soon,” he said, adding that the university community will embrace the bank as a reliable partner in its development journey.

With this development, Osun State University continues to blaze the trail in infrastructural development, strategic partnership, and service to its community, further solidifying its position as one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing and most student-focused universities.
