The programme amalgamates Educational Administration and Educational Planning, producing high-level manpower for secondary school administration.
Brief History
The Educational Management Unit of the Department of Arts and Social Science Education was established and took off after resource verification during the 2014/2015 academic session.
The Unit offers Educational Management degree programmes, with options in B.Ed. Educational Management combined with seven teaching subjects: Economics, English, Political Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.
The programme took off with six academic staff who are specialists in Educational Management, supported by Adjunct/Visiting Lecturers from other relevant Departments and Universities.
Programme Philosophy
The philosophy of Educational Management is the acquisition of appropriate managerial skills, abilities and competences such that the prospective education manager would better understand human behaviour and interrelationships.
Educational Administration
Acquisition of managerial skills and competences to understand human behaviour and interrelationships in educational settings.
Educational Planning
Development of strategic planning capabilities for effective educational system management and improvement.
Value Orientation
Inculcation of proper value-orientation for the survival of the individual and society through education.
Programme Objectives
The B.Ed. Educational Management programme is designed to achieve the following objectives
Produce qualified personnel with high-level manpower that would serve as Administrators in Secondary Schools with adequate knowledge of subjects offered.
Train high-level manpower that can contribute to educational planning at various levels.
Produce specialists that would be managers in schools and educational institutions.
Produce specialists that would help improve educational system through proper planning and administration.
Develop in students such skills and competencies that would allow them to be self-reliant and entrepreneurial.
Inculcate in students the spirit of inquiry, creativity, and ability to think critically in solving educational problems.

- 5 Credit passes in SSCE/GCE including English Language and Mathematics
- Credit in three other relevant Arts, Social Science or Science subjects

Direct Entry / 200 Level
- Advanced Level passes in at least 2 Social Science subjects
- 5 O'Level credits including English and Mathematics
- NCE with at least Lower Credit in relevant subjects
- Acceptable UNIOSUN Foundation Programme pass
Registration Procedure
- Students complete registration at the beginning of each semester.
- Course changes require consent of the course coordinator.
- Withdrawal allowed before a third of lectures have been given.
- Late registration allowed with penalty up to 4 weeks.
Graduation Requirements
- Complete and pass all prescribed courses including compulsory ones
- Meet the minimum CGPA requirement set by University Senate
- Satisfy all other conditions stipulated by the University
