I am delighted to welcome you all to this media briefing which is one of the activities lined up to mark the Second Convocation Ceremony of Osun State University that will climax on Friday, July 27, 2012. You will recall that the University had its maiden convocation on May 21, 2012.
The Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN is now set to deliver the first UNIOSUN Distinguished Guest Lecture on 19 July, 2012, at the Main Auditorium, Main Campus of Osun State University, Osogbo.
The title of the lecture is ‘Democracy, Federalism and Higher Education Development in Nigeria’.
The Governor of the State of Osun and Visitor, Osun State University, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola is the Chief Host while Her Excellency, Otunba Titi Laoye-Tomori, Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Education, State of Osun is the Special Guest of Honour. The Royal Father of the day is His Imperial Majesty, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II, Ooni of Ife and Chancellor of Osun State University.
All guests are expected to be seated by 10.30 a.m.
Consequent upon the granting of approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the Commencement of seven new programmes in the University with effect from 2012/2013 session, Osun State University wishes to give notice that supplementary Post-UTME screening for the seven new programmes will hold on Saturday, 21st July, 2012

A 300 Level student of the Department of Electrical Engineering, OLAFISOYE, Micheal Olumide (EEE/09/0045) has been awarded an annual scholarship worth One Hundred Thousand Naira only (N100,000) by David Seriki Tomori-Fapohunda(DSTF) Foundation.
The Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, on behalf of Senate, Staff and Students, commiserates with the University's Chancellor and Chairman of Osun State Council of Obas, Oba Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II, the Ooni of Ife on the transition to eternity of the late Alayeluwa Oba Oladele Olashore, Aloko of Iloko, the Ajagbusi-Ekun, the Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesaland.
In view of the recent tragic death of 153 Nigerians in the plane crash of Sunday, 3rd June, 2012, and as part of the University’s respect for the departed souls, the general public is hereby informed that the first UNIOSUN Distinguished Guest Lecture earlier scheduled for Tuesday, June 5, 2012 is hereby postponed. A new date will be announced later.
