Mrs. Olamide Afolalu is a Lecturer in the Department of Nursing Science, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Health Sciences at Osun State University. She is a Registered Nurse, Midwife, Public health Nurse, and Nurse educator registered with the prestigious Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria. She obtained her Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc) degree at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State in 2011, and holds a Master’ of Science Degree in Nursing with Distinction at the University of Cape Town, South Africa in 2018. She is presently pursuing a PhD degree in one of the Nigerian Universities.

As a dedicated Nurse and researcher, she collaborates extensively within the interdisciplinary teams that fosters a culture of knowledge exchange. Her research results have been published in peer-reviewed journals, which have influenced healthcare legislation and opened the door for the development of evidence-based practices.

She is currently investigating cutting-edge technologies in patient safety adverse events through in-depth studies. Her research focuses on delivering critical care, enhancing patient safety, and optimizing error-free healthcare systems.  She discovered that Nigeria's healthcare systems lacked a framework for reporting adverse events of care after conducting a detailed analysis of the nation's healthcare infrastructure. As a result, she set out to find creative solutions that would improve patient outcomes and alter healthcare practices on a larger scale.

Beyond her clinical and research roles, Mrs Afolalu is a renowned educator and mentor who is shaping the next generation of nurses. Her nurturing guidance and commitment to academic excellence encourages her students to embrace the qualities of empathy, integrity, and inventiveness with a commitment to academic performance and research acumen.
