Biosketch:

Dr. Murtadha Adekilekun Tijani is a Lecturer and Acting Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Osun State University, Osogbo, Nigeria. He holds a B.Eng., M.Sc. and PhD in Civil Engineering, with a focus on Structural and Materials Engineering. Using construction waste and agricultural/industrial byproducts for at least one of its constituents, he is currently developing sustainable concrete to reduce the amount of cement needed, the amount of waste in the environment, the reliance on virgin materials, the cost of construction, and the ease with which waste can be converted into wealth without compromising structural requirements. Dr. Tijani is a registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), a Senior Member of the International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures (RILEM), a Member of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and a Fellow of Nigerian Institution of Environmental Engineers (NIEE).
