Biosketch:

Adesola Adesote holds N.C.E in Economics and History from Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo in 2004; B.A ED History from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 2007; M.A History and PhD in Economic and Social History from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 2011 and 2016 respectively. He was formerly a lecturer in the Department of History and International Studies, McPherson University, Serki Sotayo, Ogun State between 2012 and 2017, where he served in different administrative capacities such as Sub-Dean, College of Humanities, Chairman, University Examination& Time Table Committee, Member, McPherson University Business & Venture Committee, Member, Mock Accreditation of ICAN Programme Committee, Member, McPherson University Senate Business Committee, Member, Committee of Advancement Research & Linkages, Coordinator, College Pre-Degree Programme, Member, Pre-Degree Board of Studies, Member, College Board of Examiners, Member, Departmental Board of Examiners, Departmental Examination Officer, Coordinator, Coordinator, College Examination &Time Table Committee, Level Adviser (300&400 levels), Secretary, Social & Welfare Committee, Member, Strategy for Increasing Population Committee, Member, Pre-Degree Programme Committee and Secretary, Pre-Degree Sub-Curriculum Development Committee . He joined the services of Osun State University, Department of History and International Studies, College of Humanities and Culture, Ikire Campus, since 2017. Since his appointment in the University, his academic career has seen him occupying some academic positions such as Departmental Examination Officer, Departmental Postgraduate Programme Coordinator, Coordinator of the Department, Chairman, Faculty Journal Committee and Chairman, Sports College Committee. Dr. Adesote has contributed immensely to historical scholarship in Economic and Social History with major emphasis on Migration, African Diaspora and Conflict Studies. He is a prolific writer, scholar and budding historian. His publications have appeared in several reputable local and international journals and edited books. He belongs to several professional associations and networks (see below)

Research Interests, Achievements / Specialization:
Economic and Social History, Migration, African Diaspora and Conflict Studies and Political History. He is currently working on the Yoruba migrant farmers and the Growth of Islam in some rural communities of the defunct Ondo Division of Southeastern Yorubaland since the 1930s.

Contributions to knowledge
He has 40 scholastic publications in local and international journals and edited books. He has supervised twenty (15) undergraduate projects and four (4) Master’s Dissertations since he joined the University. He has attended and presented papers in twenty-six (26) national and international and conferences, training workshops and symposia.

Scientific /Professional Activities:
In the last eight years of his sojourn into the academia, he has served as a resource person and guest speaker in some symposia and workshops such as Centre for Black Culture and International Understanding Seminar Series, Abere, Osogbo, Osun State, 20 June, 2019; chaired sessions of some conferences. He also served as one of the resource persons commissioned by the Evans Brothers (Nigeria Publishers) Limited, Ibadan to write Evans Modular History for Primary Schools (Book 1-6) and Evans Effective History for Junior Secondary Schools (Book 1-3).

Awards/ Grants
Overall Best Student Award by National Association of Ogun State Students ( Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo Chapter) during the 2001/2002 Academic Session; Federal Scholarship Award for NCE and Undergraduates during the 2003/2004 Academic Session.
