Biosketch:
John Oyewole Oyekale is a professional/academic librarian with Osun State University, Osogbo Nigeria. He holds a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Education of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1992, Master of Library and Information Studies degree from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 2006, and Doctor of Philosophy in Library and Information Science from Adeleke University Ede, Nigeria in 2023.
John Oyekale has risen to rank of Principal Librarian since 2017 and his responsibilities include overseeing the overall management and administration of the College library (including strategic planning, and policy development); directing and supervising library staff to ensure that all library services are provided efficiently and effectively; planning and managing the acquisition of new materials to ensure that the library's collection meets the needs of its users; developing and implementing programmes and services to meet the information needs of library users, including reference services, library instruction, and outreach activities to promote library resources and services; overseeing the integration of new technologies to improve library services and operations; and building and maintaining relationships with the local community, educational institutions, and other organizations to promote the library's resources and services, and to assess and address the information needs of the community.
John Oyekale has been coordinating the teaching of GNS 103: Use of Library in the University for the past six sessions.
