Natural Product Research for Diabetes Complications and Infectious Diseases
Biosketch:
Ebenezer Idowu Olatunbosun Ajayi is a biochemist and specialises in diabetes complications and infectious disease research. He teaches in the Department of Biochesmistry, College of Science, Engineering and Technology, Osun State University, Osogbo, Nigeria. He has nineteen years of experience in clinical biochemistry, molecular biotechnology, medical genetics and membrane biophysics. He deploys biological techniques for life science investigation, including drug screening and in vivo pathogenicity testing using tissue culture, rodents, fruitfly (Drosophila melanogaster), Greater wax moth (Galleria mellonella) and black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens). He has training in animal handling, mitochondria isolation, cell culture, 3D (bio)printing, microscopy, bioimaging, biocatalysis, microfluidics, liposomal formulation, plasma cleaning, DNA extraction, PCR, Western blotting, natural product extraction/ characterization, microbial biotransformation of natural products and waste. He is a member of reputable science societies including the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB), Association of Clinical Chemists of Nigeria (ACCN), African Society of Drosophilists (ASD), International Society for Infectious Diseases (ISID), Society for Mitochondrial Research and Medicine (SMRM) India, The Biochemical Society London, International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS) and Human Cell Atlas (HCA).
