The foundation-laying ceremony, held on Tuesday, 17th March, at the University campus, was attended by principal officers, members of staff, and distinguished alumni of the Institution.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor commended the Alumni Association for its visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the development of their alma mater. He described the project as a landmark intervention that would significantly improve the living conditions of students and complement the University’s infrastructural expansion drive.
Professor Adebooye noted that the collaboration between the Alumni Association and the University Management represents a historic milestone, highlighting it as one of the most impactful alumni-led projects since the establishment of the Institution.
He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to fostering strong partnerships with its alumni and other stakeholders in advancing its mission of academic excellence and holistic student development.
Speaking at the event, the President of the Alumni Association, Comrade Abubakar Abdulbasit Olokuta stated that the hostel project was conceived as a strategic effort to give back to the University and provide a conducive and comfortable living environment for students. He assured that the Association remains committed to supporting the Institution through more developmental initiatives.
The ceremony featured goodwill messages from University officials and alumni, all of whom lauded the project as timely and transformative.
The Alumni Students’ Hostel is expected to be completed within three months, further underscoring the Association’s dedication to rapid and impactful contributions to the growth of Osun State University.
