The Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives, led by its Chairman, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Salam, on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, paid an oversight visit to Osun State University (UNIOSUN) to inspect several Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) projects executed in the institution within the past four years.

The delegation, comprising 20 members of the House Committee and nine staff, was received at the university by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, alongside members of the university management team.

In his welcome address, Professor Adebooye expressed delight at the committee’s visit and used the opportunity to present a brief overview of Osun State University as a unique multi-campus institution strategically located across the geopolitical zones of Osun State. He noted that the university’s structure was deliberately designed to promote balanced development, expand access to higher education, and drive socio-economic growth within the State.

The Vice-Chancellor further highlighted the various TETFund-assisted projects executed by the institution in recent years, describing them as critical investments that have significantly strengthened the university’s teaching, research, and learning environment.

Following the briefing, Professor Adebooye led the delegation on an extensive physical inspection of the completed projects across the university. The committee members expressed visible admiration at the quality, scale, and strategic relevance of the facilities.

During the inspection, the chairman and members of the committee repeatedly commended the Vice-Chancellor and his management team for the efficient utilisation of public funds and the impressive transformation witnessed across the campuses. Many of them openly expressed amazement, asking how the university leadership had been able to achieve such remarkable progress within a relatively short period.rep visit uniosun3

Speaking during the visit, Rt. Hon. Salam lauded both the donor and the management of the university for their dedication to excellence and responsible stewardship of resources. He described the projects as clear evidence that public institutions can achieve remarkable results when transparency, vision, and commitment guide leadership.

He urged the university to sustain the momentum and continue setting high standards in the management of public resources and the delivery of quality education.

The visit, which ended on a note of admiration and encouragement, further reaffirmed Osun State University’s growing reputation as one of Nigeria’s forward-looking public universities committed to academic excellence, infrastructural development, and impactful service to society.

Members of the university management expressed appreciation to the committee for the visit and for recognising the institution’s efforts to maximise the opportunities provided through TETFund interventions.

The university reiterated its commitment to maintaining the high standards observed by the committee and to continually raising the bar in teaching, research, innovation, and community service.rep visit uniosun2
