Biosketch:

Abiodun Ojewuyi is a Lecturer and an Honorary Consultant in the Department of Medical Microbiology, College of Health Sciences. She teaches and mentors Medical, Nursing, and Public Health students. She is also actively involved in research as a medical doctor and has been involved in several research activities which focus on antimicrobial resistance, infectious diseases and human health.

She has a solid background in Medical Microbiology and specialized in Bacteriology. She collaborated with other specialists to write the Nigerian national action plan for antimicrobial resistance and to develop a situation analysis on antimicrobial use in Nigeria and came up with some recommendations in 2017. She was the spoke hospital data manager and a co-investigator for the cluster randomized trial of sterile gloves and instrument change at closure to reduce surgical site infections (ChEETAh), an international study funded by NIHR Global Health Research Unit on Global Surgery in 2021. She was also an Investigator in another international study; African Surgical Outcomes Study in Pediatrics Patients (ASOSPaeds), an African, international multi-centre evaluation of patient care and clinical outcomes for paediatric patients undergoing surgery in 2022. 

She is the current spoke hospital representative, Community Engagement and Involvement (CEI) for National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR Global Health Research) funded by UK Aid for Osun State University Teaching Hospital. She is  collaborating with people in and outside of her field for the best outcomes in teaching, research and clinical practice. She has the capacity to work with other team members to conduct outstanding research and arrive at the best policies to support global health.
